Notes on Fiscal Year 2020-2021

SCVAS ended the 2020-2021 fiscal year (June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021) in the black despite the significant challenges presented by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In April we were able to conduct another very successful socially-distanced Birdathon fundraiser, raising over $68,000 and exceeding our budget estimates and prior year numbers. Our other contributions rose as well, indicating that our members, donors and community are pleased with our programs, conservation activities and member services. Our ratio of program expenditures to total spending is over 85%, while our fundraising expenses are just over 4%. Our investment portfolio increased from 2020 to 2021 by over 20% due to the economic improvement this year. Our conservative investment policy certainly has helped us in these tough times. We look forward to 2022 with cautious optimism, lots of energy, and a very sound Balance Sheet.
