Artificial light can dominate the sky and damage the quality of life for both the humans and wildlife caught in its glow. We’ve seen what happens to the skies when this occurred in Los Angeles, we’ve seen it in New York, and now San Jose seems determined to join the ranks of cities contributing to the most easily avoidable pollution we have threatening our world today.

The Arena Green is situated in the middle of Downtown San Jose, at the confluence of the Guadalupe River and the Los Gatos Creek. Now, in the midst of this island of riparian habitat surrounded by urban development, the City of San Jose is planning an art installation that will illuminate the entire city, and put to bed any hopes of dark skies in Silicon Valley.
