Acorn Woodpecker by Vinayak Hebbagil

Birding at Ed Levin County Park

Join us for a walk in Ed Levin County Park as well look for any early fall migrants as well the late summer birds. The Spring Valley pond is great to look for egrets, Great Blue Heron, Double-crested Cormorant and Pied-billed Grebe. We'll then make our way through the Spring Valley trail and look for birds among the grassy hills and then the oak woodlands. We'll be looking for swallows, Western Bluebirds, various woodpeckers, and keeping our eyes and ears peeled for Western Tanagers, Yellow Warblers and Hutton's Vireos.

Trip Difficulty: 2 miles, dirt trails, some elevation gain (less than 300 feet), some shade

Other Trip Notes: It may still be warm in mid-September so remember to get sun protection and enough drinking water.
