Joint Event with Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority

Explore a preserve normally not open to the public, where endangered and threatened plants and animals thrive on serpentine soils. Horned Larks, Western Meadowlarks, Golden Eagles, and other grassland/oak savannah specialties are expected. We also hope to find other summer visitors such as orioles and Ash-throated Flycatchers.

Trip Difficulty: 3-4 miles; 900' ascent for about 1 mile; trail surface is gravel and may be muddy after rains. Hiking poles recommended for trekking up and down the ridge. Heavy rains day of or days prior will cancel, or meeting location will be changed. Please provide contact information upon registering so that we may notify you of any changes.
