Lost and Spotted: Birding Orioles, Woodpeckers, Auks and Passenger Pigeons!

This bird trip will combine spotting seasonal summer birds at the Stanford Arizona Cactus Garden and the surrounding oak and eucalyptus groves with a trip over to the Anderson Gallery and Bing Concert Hall where we will continue to bird while visiting Todd McGrain's The Lost Bird Project. This art installation includes five outdoor bronze sculptures representing five North American birds driven to extinction. Live birds we should see include Hooded Oriole, White-breasted Nuthatch, Acorn Woodpecker, jays, creepers, Red-shouldered Hawk as well as some gnatcatchers and vireos.

Optional: pack your own lunch/snack and we'll picnic together afterwards.

Trip Difficulty: 2.5 to 3 miles, paved and dirt trails, no elevation gain, shady

Other Trip Notes: Restrooms available once we get to the Anderson Gallery. Weather may be warm (August!) so lots of water is advised.
