Western Flycatcher by Vinayak Hebbagil

Late Spring birding at Belgatos Park (Los Gatos)

Join us for a late spring trip to Belgatos Park with its diverse habitats, including oak woodlands and riparian areas, in proximity to the Santa Cruz mountains. We hope to see/hear some of the resident species like Spotted Towhees, Oak Titmice, and especially be on the lookout for California Thrashers. We also hope to find Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Western Wood Pewees, Ash-throated Flycatchers among other spring specialists.

Trip Difficulty: Approx. 2 miles, packed-dirt trails, some hills (less than 300 ft elevation gain), steep in some sections

Other Trip Notes: Most of the walk will be on trails with a gradual elevation gain. There is one small section where we will end our walk with a steep climb before turning back on the trail.
