Hellyer County Park/Cottonwood Lake

Located in San Jose, this urban park has a variety of habitats including a man-made lake, riparian areas, and oak woodlands. We’ll look for ducks and gulls on the lake, geese on the lawns, and woodpeckers and songbirds in the trees.

Optional: Pack your own lunch/snack and we'll picnic together afterwards.

Trip Difficulty: 2 miles, paved trails, wet lawns, little or no elevation gain

Meet: Parking lot next to the playground

Directions: From US-101 in San Jose, exit Hellyer Ave. Follow the signs for the county park and merge onto Hellyer Ave. Once on Hellyer Ave, take the first left into the main parking lot.
