Family-friendly, Beginner Birding at Linda Vista Park (Cupertino)

Please join us for a family-friendly beginner bird walk at a hidden Cupertino gem: Linda Vista Park. This park has a variety of habitats, with open meadows, lots of trees, and some scrub, with some gentle hills. We will walk around the park for a mile or so, and can follow a short trail from the park (1/3 mile) down to McClellan Ranch if we would like to do so. Recent bird sightings include Nuttall’s woodpecker, Dark-eyed Juncos, Lesser Goldfinches, House Finches, Spotted Towhee, Chestnut backed Chickadees, American Crows, Wrentits, and Bewick’s Wren.

Trip Difficulty:1 mile, paved, gravel, packed-dirt trails, and lawns (potentially wet), some hills (less than 300 ft elevation gain), some shade

Other Trip Notes: Trip leader will have some extra binoculars available, as well as a guidebook for reference.

Meet: Linda Vista Park parking lot, near bathrooms

Directions: Driving directions from San Jose or the peninsula: take the Stevens Creek exit from Hwy 85, turning right if coming from the peninsula or left if coming from San Jose. Then turn left at the stoplight (Chevron station on corner) onto Bubb Rd. Follow Bubb Rd for 0.8 mile, then turn right onto Hyannisport Drive. Follow Hyannisport Dr for 0.5 miles then turn left onto Linda Vista Dr. Continue on Linda Vista Drive for 0.3 mile, until you reach the park entrance on your right. There is plenty of free parking.
