BEGINNER'S BIRD AND NATIVE PLANT IDENTIFICATION SPRING WALK AT LAKE CUNNINGHAM PARK

Do you love being outdoors? Do you want to deepen your appreciation of nature by learning the names of birds and plants around you? At the onset of spring, join us for a beginner’s bird and plant identification walk through Lake Cunningham Park. Lake Cunningham is a major destination for waterfowl and migratory birds, and its native garden is home for many resident birds for its habitat value. On this walk, Vicki Silvas-Young, Arvind Kumar, and Ashok Jethanandani will show you how to identify the common birds of our area, as well as the native plants they depend on for food, shelter, and nesting places.

Trip Difficulty: 2 miles round trip on a level paved path

Other Trip Notes: Bring a hat, water, and your binoculars. Wear comfortable walking shoes.

Directions: From US-101, exit Tully Rd. Continue east on Tully Rd. Park entrance road is on your left in 2 miles. Continue into the park, following the signs to the marina. Latitude/Longitude: 37.335000, -121.810047

Facilities: Bathrooms and cell phone serve available.

Parking: Parking fee is $6.
