How to Use Your Program Materials

Step 1: Complete Pre-Program Materials

Start the program by having your students complete the Pre-program Test before doing any other activities. Each student should complete this test on their own, not working as a group. All of the questions should be answered as fully as possible, however if they do not know a particular answer, they can either guess or leave it blank. Next, utilize the vocabulary list, bird flashcards, and slideshow (all provided during teacher meeting) to adequately prepare the students for the in-class activities and field trip. Additional video resources are available at the "additional videos" link above. These can be used to supplement material prior to the in-class activities with SCVAS. For another fun activity with students, teachers can utilize the Wetlands Wonders feature of our website (click on "Wetlands Wonders" above) and have students complete the accompanying worksheet (see "Wetlands Wonders Worksheet" above). Students can complete this activity individually, in pairs, or in small groups. Note: it will help your students to have the Wetlands Discovery pages and the worksheet open simultaneously in separate web browser windows.

Step 2: Wetlands Discovery Field Trip and Wetlands Wonders

Now your class is ready to go on our wetlands field trip, one of the highlights of our program.

Step 3: Complete Post-Program Materials

After you are done with all WDP activites, including the steps above, your students should complete our Post-program Test. Each student should complete this test on their own, not working as a group. All of the questions should be answered as fully as possible, however if they don't know a particular answer, they can either guess or leave it blank. Afterwards, students will complete a short reflection activity (directions provided during teacher meeting).

Step 4: Complete the Teacher Evaluation

Fill out the Teacher Evaluation so we can continuously improve this program. See "Teacher Evaluation" button above.
