Topic: "The Lowdown on Getting High in Columbia" with Bob Lewis

Description: Three trips to Colombia focused on bird photography resulted in tanager and hummingbird images by the dozen. Over some challenging roads we’ll explore the mountain ranges, including Santa Marta, as well as the valleys, stopping for a cup of coffee along the way. Colombia has more species of birds than any other country, and sorting through them can be challenging. We’ll keep to the prettiest and most interesting on our overview of Colombia’s avian species.

Bob trained as a chemist and worked for Chevron for 33 years. He’s taught birding classes in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 25 years and is the past chair of Golden Gate Audubon’s Adult Education Committee. His life bird list is 19 short of 5000 species, and he loves to travel. He’s an award-winning photographer, focusing on birds, and he has recently returned from Australia and New Guinea. Bob was honored with GGAS’ Paul Covel Award for Education in 2017.
